HSE Operational Policy

The Company’s Health, Safety and Environmental Policy:

  • Has a system approach to HSE management designed to ensure compliance with the law and to achieve continuous performance improvement.
  • Sets target for improvement and measures appraises and reports performance.
  • Requires its sub contractors to manage HSE in line with this policy.
  • Includes HSE performance in the appraisal of all staff and rewards accordingly.
  • Trains work force and encourages environmental awareness at all levels.
  • Does one’s best to maintain good relations with the public and local authorities.

Since the operations manager, sectional heads are the ones who actually use staff and equipment in doing their jobs, this policy implies that they must pay particular attention to the Quality Assurance, needs of the public and client.
The extent to which this is done is a key factor during staff evaluation. By applying these principles we aim to:

  • Improve our working conditions
  • Ensure better service for our clients
  • Contribute to profitability

The company’s particular HSE & Quality Assurance Policies.
The Company has in place the following HSE and QC policies.

  • Corporate HSE policy
  • Drugs and Alcohol policies
  • Security policies
  • Water related working policy
  • Transportation policy
  • AIDS policy.

Owens Marine Limited has always shown a high level of HSE standard and it is committed to maintaining and improving this standard. We shall therefore continue to abide to our policy and community settlement as summarized below:

  • OML will maintain good public relationship with host communities except with respect to issues, which are specifically the responsibilities of our client/customers.
  • Establish a medium which adequately defines to what extent are the social and economic equity beneficiary to all the stake holders.
  • Be sensitive to the needs of our host communities.
  • We shall respond to all formal community invitation/request after due consultation.
  • Conflict abatement through local mitigation (CALM)
  • OML will educate all her employees on community relation/public affairs

This standard is understood by every one working with us in OML or involved in our activities.

The targets and objectives in this plan have been set to complement our clients’ corporate objectives. The targets were set to be consistent with our clients’ services, targets and objectives and they’re as realistic as possible based on S M A R T + and past statistical data and our determination to achieve accident free operations and a clean and safe environment for all.
